We Realised In 2015 That Unless We Come Together, The PDP Will Succeed In Killing Nigeria- Buhari

We Realised In 2015 That Unless We Come Together, The PDP Will Succeed In Killing Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari has recounted how he and some opposition leaders were forced to make sacrifices that led to the merger arrangement that produced the All Progressives Congress, APC, explaining that they had to do this to prevent the country from going under.

He stressed that with the desperate situation the country found itself, the leaders of the opposition at that time had no other alternative than to sacrifice and join hands to build a party that would take out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Buhari made this assertion during the launch of a book, titled: ‘From Opposition to Governing Party: Nigeria’s APC Merger Story,’ written by one of the founding fathers of the APC, now Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

Election Of Senator Uche Ekwunife Of Anambra Central (PDP) Nullified.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Enugu on Monday nullified the election of Senator Uche Ekwunife of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following an appeal brought before it by the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh.

Ekwunife represented Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Her election was upheld in October by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Awka, Anambra State.
Justice Naiyi Aganaba while reading the verdict of the tribunal said in October said, Victor Umeh failed to establish his case that Ekwunife was wrongly declared the winner of the March 28 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
But Justice Datijo Yahaya of the Court of Appeal ruled that election of Senator Ekwunife did not meet the provision of the Electoral Act.
He then ordered that fresh election is held in the Anambra Central Senatorial District within 90 days.

IPOB,MASSOB Regroups For Further Protests

The business community of Onitsha, Anambra State has started recovering from the effect of last week’s pro-Biafra violent protests that left nine people dead and property worth millions of naira destroyed. After the Wednesday’s mayhem in the city and the subsequent dismantling of the barricade used by the protesters to block the Bridge Head and other entry points in Onitsha, indication emerged that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, were regrouping on Thursday to begin another round of violent demonstration.

This was, however, aborted following the beefing up of security in the area. For instance, several truck loads of soldiers, from the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, were seen heading to Onitsha on Thursday and this, perhaps, scared the organizers of the protests. Hundreds of the IPOB agitators, who gathered at one location in Onitsha, had to hurriedly disperse for fear of arrests.

The suspension of the protest, however, does not mean the agitation is over.

For now, the agitators have resorted to the use of the social media to whip up sentiments and gather more support for what they described as impending referendum on Biafra. One of the messages that have hit the media is entitled, ‘The Biafra question: A case for self-determination referendum.’

Nine Alleged Boko Haram Extremists Plotting Attacks On Abuja Arrested By The DSS.

Nigeria’s intelligence agency says it has arrested nine alleged Boko Haram extremists plotting attacks on Abuja, the capital, over the festive season.

Saturday’s statement follows a warning Friday from the U.S. Embassy that extremists may be planning attacks on hotels favored by Westerners.

The Department of State Security says one of the nine men arrested was carrying out surveillance of a “high-profile hotel.”
It says all nine were detained in the past month and had infiltrated the capital in central Nigeria from the country’s northeast where most extremist attacks occur.
Boko Haram has claimed previous suicide and car bomb attacks that have killed hundreds in Abuja. Their suicide bombings, village raids and kidnappings continue in the northeast.
Nigeria’s 6-year Islamic uprising has killed 20,000 people and spread to neighboring countries.

“I do not believe in power shift as some people are advocating. The development of the state as a whole will be my priority. I will ensure that sectional division among our people is taken care of.”
He called on the people of the state to troop out to cast their votes in the supplementary election to bring the election to a conclusion.

Bayelsa Guber: A Woman Shot Down In Oporoma By Stray Bullet.

A woman was killed on Saturday as voters went to the polls in tight security to elect a new governor in Bayelsa, officials said.
Bayelsa is the home state of former president Goodluck Jonathan, where incumbent governor Seriake Dickson is running against former governor Timipre Sylva for another four-year term in office.

The woman was shot dead in Oporoma, a town at least 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of Port Harcourt, Nigeria’s oil hub which is the capital of neighbouring Rivers state, in one of a series of shooting attacks.
The governor’s spokesman Daniel Iwariso-Markson said a woman had been killed in Oporoma, indicating there had also been shooting attacks in Ekeremor, Nembe town and Brass.
“She was hit by bullets fired during the shooting,” he said, without giving details.
Dickson said the attacks targeted his supporters.

Boko-Haram Cameraman Arrested By The Nigerian Army.

Boko-Haram Cameraman Arrested By The Nigerian Army. The man behind the production of video footages which Boko Haram insurgents usually post on the Internet, Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq, has been arrested by soldiers of the Nigeria Army in Borno State.

Sadiq was the suspect No. 58 in the recently published photograph of ‘100 Wanted Boko Haram suspects’ that was circulated by the Department of Army Public Relations in October.
In the published photograph, believed to have been sourced from a screen grab of a video clip, Sadiq, who appeared to be in his late 40s, was seen carrying a video camera tripod.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said he was arrested in Uba town of Askira Uba local area of Borno state.
Many residents of Borno state who viewed the video footage that was posted on YouTube showing the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, leading his group of insurgents to perform prayers during the last Eid Kabir celebration, confirmed that the video was taken in a community called Pumbum, which was not far away from Uba town: which made some logical sense if the Boko Haram’s video man, Sadiq, was arrested in that locality.

A low voter turnout was recorded in the Kogi governorship supplementary election in Ankpa and Igalamela/Odolu local government areas of the state on Saturday, as most of the registered voters failed to turn up for accreditation.

“The wave of attack has confirmed our fears and alarm earlier raised that Governor Dickson was the one planning to cause violence.
“The affected communities are Oporoma in Southern Ijaw LGA, where the APC State Chairman, Tiwei Orunimighe, hails from; Brass LGA, home of the APC governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva; Ekeremor LGA, home of the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Nembe LGA.

Corrupt Public Officers Should Face Capital Punishment. NLC

Following the mindboggling revelations arising from the $2.1bn arms procurement scandal, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, yesterday insisted on its stance that corrupt public officers should face capital punishment.

AYUBA WABBA

Addressing journalists in Abuja, NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, stated that the ongoing detention of some persons by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in connection with the alleged stealing and diversion of monies meant to prosecute war against insurgency in the North East, justified the union’s calls for summary execution of corrupt public officials.
Some ex-high ranking government officials, including former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki are currently in the custody of EFCC over complicity in the $2.1bn arms deal.

All Nigeria Need To Do Is To Ask The Igbos To Vote And Determine Where They Want To Belong, Biafra Or Nigeria- Dele Momodu

All Nigeria Need To Do Is To Ask The Igbos To Vote And Determine Where They Want To Belong, Biafra Or Nigeria

BY DELE MOMODU

Fellow Nigerians, the roof is on fire. And the owners of the house should not
sleep and snore lest they get badly burnt. Please, let no one treat or dismiss
this Biafra controversy as humbug because it is very serious and has the
potential of spiraling out of control and snowballing into an unprecedented
conflagration of unquenchable propensities. War has never been a tea party.
I was about seven years old when the Nigerian civil war broke out in July 1967.
I was a child but not too young not to know and understand some of what was
happening. I certainly felt the tremor of it even in far-away Ile-Ife. We knew
something was definitely wrong when we suddenly noticed the inexplicable
disappearance of our neighbors and family friends. The most painful for us in
my own home was the forceful separation from our prayer warrior and spiritual
Guru, Papa Fineface. Papa Fineface had migrated from the Eastern part of
Nigeria to Ile-Ife many years earlier. Suddenly like a wisp of smoke he was
gone! At that time, we called such citizens of Nigeria from that part, Ibo. Much
later, I somehow learnt that the people should actually be addressed as Igbo.
Well, we continued to use the two names interchangeably till today.

President Buhari's Many Foreign Trips Is For The Good Of The Country

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has justified the many foreign trips of the President, saying that such trips by President Buhari since assuming office are critical to the implementation of his administration key policies of enhancing security, jump-starting the economy, creating jobs and fighting corruption.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja and signed by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and Culture, Segun Adeyemi, the Minister said all the trips have started yielding fruits in terms of turning the tide in the fight against the insurgents, attracting investments in the range of billions of dollars, and securing global support for the administration’s anti-corruption fight.

“Nigerians, whether in the ruling or the opposition parties, have a right to ask questions about the activities of their President, but it is absolutely important that they do so from an informed, rather than partisan or sensational, standpoint,’’ he said.

Igbo's Are Very Much Blessed And Loved Exceedingly By God - Ezeemo

Igbo's Are Very Much Blessed And Loved Exceedingly By God

A frontline industrialist, Mr Godwin Ezeemo, has called on the pro-Biafra protesters to have a re-think of their actions and consider its consequences on the generality of the Igbo residing in different parts of the country and tread with caution.
He said grounding businesses in the South East, destroying properties of their brothers, and preventing women from fending for their families, among other negative implications of violent protests, do not give credibility to their call, rather dialogue and diplomacy must be employed in resolving any issue of interest, not war or confrontational principle.
Ezeemo said that 99.9 per cent of the people parading themselves today as pro-Biafra crusaders and going about their agitation in a violent manner did not see or experience the 1967- 1970 Nigerian civil war and as such do not know the consequences of their action.
He called on the protesters to go home and ask their parents, uncles, war veterans in their various localities what it means to incite war and its benefits. “There is nothing good that will come out of conflict, confusion, crisis, not to talk of war where every where will be in comatose.

Press Release From DAAR Communication Over The Arrest Of Chairman Emeritus High Chief Aleogho Dokpesi.

Dokpesi, Efcc, DAAR
Press Release From DAAR Communication owners of AIT and Raypower
On Monday Nov 30, 2015 whilst attending the 70th birthday celebration of former Minister and PDP stalwart, Professor Jerry Gana, the Chairman Emeritus of DAAR Communications Plc. received a telephone call from the Ag. Chairman of EFCC Ibrahim Magu inviting him to the visit the EFCC Headquarters to provide some clarifications and documentation regarding some transactions involving the Office of the erstwhile NSA during the 2015 Presidential election campaigns.
On Tuesday Dec 1, 2015 around 2.00pm, High Chief Aleogho Dokpesi honored the verbal telephone invitation and voluntarily drove himself to the EFCC Headquarters in the company of his son, Raymond Dokpesi Jr and a legal representative of the Chambers of Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, in the person of Barrister Justin Omogbemeh. It is pertinent to state that the contrary to news reports, he wasn't arrested nor was he even formally invited, as there is no letter of invitation. At the commission, he was requested to shed more light on some payments that were made to him through the office of the erstwhile National Security Officer to the former President, Mallam Sambo Dasuki. High Chief Aleogho Dokpesi made his statement on the various media exposures and campaign transactions, which were dutifully carried out across most broadcast, print and social media in and outside Nigeria. Surprisingly, rather than been allowed to go home, a free man, or at most on administrative bail, in self recognizance, High Chief Dokpesi was kept by EFCC operatives, with onerous bail conditions imposed for his release. It is theses conditions that we are now attempting to perfect for his immediate release.
Signed Raymond Dokpesi, Jnr For the Dokpesi Family

Oppressors Should Be Blamed Instead Of Blaming The Biafra Agitators. Chukwudi Nwokoye

by Chukwudi Nwokoye
It is cowardly to blame the victims of murder by the Army and Police. Why do we live in a world where the victims are always blamed instead of the oppressors? Why do we live in the world where victims are always at the receiving end of the “blame-masters”?
When a woman is raped, the hypocritical and cowardly society of ours would not blame the disgusting rapist, but would blame the victim of rape. “What was she doing by that time of the night.?” “Why was she wearing a skimpy shorts or skimpy shirt.”? “Why did she go there in the first place.”?

Buhari Should Be Held Responsible For The Renewed Biafra Struggle. Femi Aribisala

In the eight years of Obasanjo’s presidency, there was no headline-grabbing demand for Biafra. Ditto for the eight years of the Yar’Adua/Jonathan presidency. However, within months of Buhari’s presidency, the Igbo demand for Biafra has become deafening.

Without a doubt, the blame for this new impetus must be laid firmly at the doorstep of President Buhari. Moreover, rather than attenuate it, the president and the APC have exacerbated separatist tendencies in the country.

This was part of the reason why people like me did not support Buhari’s election as president of Nigeria. I have written severally in Vanguard that Nigeria must remain a united nation. In my column of 4th March, 2014 entitled: “Re-inventing Igbo Politics in Nigeria,” I maintained that: “Nigeria cannot survive without the Igbo.” The following week on 11th March 2014, I wrote another article entitled: “Nigeria Cannot Do without the North.”

UK launches Its Air Strikes On Syria Islamic States.

British fighter planes have struck suspected ISIL targets in Syria, just hours after MPs approved a motion authorising the use of military force against the group.
A British Ministry of Defence spokesman confirmed to Al Jazeera that Tornado combat jets had returned to base after conducting combat missions against the group on Thursday.
Earlier, the Reuters news agency reported that four warplanes landed at RAF Akrotiri, the base used for British air strikes on fighters belonging to ISIL, or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group, in Iraq.

IPOB,MASSOB: We Did Not Burn Down Any Mosque In Onitsha.

Following ground swell protests at Ontisha, Anambra State and other states of the south-east geopolitical zone staged by members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, last Tuesday, calling on the Federal Government to release their detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the two pro-Biafra groups, Wednesday, disassociated selves from acts of arson and violence that culminated in the razing down of Onitsha Central Mosque and burning of some vehicles.

This came as the Inspector General of Police,Solomon Arase, warned that the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, will henceforth, arrest and prosecute persons found to be engaged in the breakdown of law and order by way of protests, especially in the old eastern region.

Before Nnamdi Kanu Is Murdered By Buhari’s Secret Police- Statement

We, the leaderships of the Southeast based Coalition of Human Rights Organizations; comprising the International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety), Anambra State Branch of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), the Center for Human Rights & Peace Advocacy (CHRPA), Human Rights Club(HRC) (a project of LRRDC), Southeast Good Governance Forum (SGGF), Forum for Equity, Justice & Defense of Human Rights (FEJDHR), Society Advocacy Watch Project (SPAW), Anambra Human Rights Forum (AHRF), the International Solidarity for Peace & Human Rights Initiative (INTERSOLIDARITY) and the Street Law Africa (LawAfrica) are deeply worried and concerned that Citizen Nnamdi Kanu may mostly likely go the way of late Muhammed Yusuf.

It is recalled that late Muhammed Yusuf was the leader of the Boko Haram terror group who was arrested alive by the Nigerian Army during the July/August 2009 Boko Haram uprising in northern Nigeria and taken into the custody of the Nigeria Police Force, from where he was murdered in cold blood or killed extra judicially. The consequences of that dastardly act by the country’s security forces led to sharp rise or increase in the spate of terrorism activities by the violent group; which has remained untamed till date. Nigeria till date holds the world record in extra-judicial and unlawful killings. It was also recently declared the third most terrorized country in the world after Afghanistan and Iraq and seconded only by Syria and Pakistan.

IPOB And MASSOB Should Be Allowed To Exercise Their Fundamental Rights- Senator Ahmad Sani Yerima

Amidst a renewed agitation by pro-Biafra protesters across the South east and South south parts of the country with the subsequent clamp down on them by the Federal Government, a former governor of Zamfara State, Ahmad Sani Yerima, has said that the Biafra agitators were on a legitimate struggle for self determination.

PDP Reacts To The Arrest Of Dokpesi. Read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemns in its entirety, the arrest of media mogul, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi and other opposition elements by the APC-led Federal Government.
The party also alerted that it has been made aware that more notable PDP leaders have similarly been listed for arrest over unproven allegations pursuant to the plot by the APC to cow and silence opposition in the country.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Tuesday said the military style of pronouncement of guilt on Chief Dokpesi before any fair hearing, betrays the fact that he is a victim of political persecution and mob trial by the APC government because of his association with the PDP.
