Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday declared that Nigeria needed strong political parties both in government and opposition for the country’s democracy to survive.
Obasanjo said, as at today, the ruling All Progressives Congres Democratic Party (PDP) cannot claim to be strong in government and opposition respectively.ss (APC) and opposition People
He spoke shortly after the factional National Chairman of PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, visited him at his Presidential Hilltop Estate residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Sheriff, who arrived the ex-president’s home at 11:04am in a convoy of four vehicles, left about 12:30pm.
Both leaders met behind closed-doors for about one hour, and later emerged to address reporters.
Obasanjo, who spoke first, maintained that he had renounced partisan politics in the country but was still open to all people of goodwill to offer advice to them
