3:00pm yesterday, a chopper crash was reported at behind the King’s palace
in Oworonsoki end of a lagoon in Lagos state today. The helicopter
carrying 12 dignitaries was heading to Ikeja Lagos from Rivers State
when it suddenly exploded and crashed into the swamp.
Six dead bodies were recovered from the scene of the crash while 6 others sustained serious injuries. The identifies of the victims have not been revealed. The corpses of the victims have been moved to Gbagada hospital mortuary.
Briefing
the media at about 7 30 pm, on rescue mission so far, Mr. Kolawole
Akindele, General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management, Agency,
LASEMA explained:
“The crash happened few minutes after 3:00pm and as soon as we received the distress call we move immediately to the scene.
“So far six people out of 12 on board were rescued, while four dead bodies were also recovered and deposited at the Lagos Mainland Hospital.
