LAGOS STATE SHUTS DOWN 22 RELIGIOUS HOUSES, STRIP CLUB, OTHERS

Lagos State Government on Wednesday 26, August  shut three companies and 22 religious houses for violating the 2010 environmental law of the state. Some of the Churches that were shut down during the tour were,  The Redeemed Christain Church of God (RCCG), God Royal Sanctuary at Ayilara Streets, Surulere; Tower of Praise Ministries International, Praise Centre and Jesus Our Lord Divine Catholic Prayer Ministry Located at Anuoluwapo Street, Ilasamaja.



While the companies shut were: Dura Products Industries Nigeria Limited on Sanni Olabode Street, in Abule Egba; a Strip Club/Hotel, popularly known as Shakara Bar; Mopson Pharmaceuticals Industry located on Osolo Way. The pharmaceutical company was shut because it was said to discharge untreated water to the environment.

Speaking to newsmen after the enforcement, the General Manager of LASEPA, Adebola Shabi, lamented that ‎that the churches were fond of going back to their old ways after brief compliance. Shabi noted that henceforth, sanctioned churches would begin to pay fines ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 before they are reopened
