Ritual Killings On The Rise In Liberia.


Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says increase in ritualistic killings and armed robbery are threatening security ,Liberia’s president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, vowed on Thursday to crack down on those responsible for a rise in ritual killings in the west African country as it seeks to emerge from the shadow of an Ebola epidemic.

When surveillance aircraft spotted a make-shift submarine in waters off Central America, a boarding team from the Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf found more $200 million worth of cocaine.

"Getting the semi-submersible was pretty exciting. Just seeing it for the first time, and seeing the sheer amount of drugs on it -- almost 18,000 pounds."

This year for the Coast Guard, working with the military and U.S. customs, has seized more cocaine in the Pacific than the last three years combined.

Nigeria Army rescue over 60, kill 4 Boko-Haram Members


Nigerian troops killed four suspected Boko Haram suspects and set free 61 people, mainly women and children, held by the jihadist group in the flashpoint north-eastern Borno state, the army said Thursday.
In an operation, troops under air cover cleared Boko Haram camps "and in the process rescued 61 persons abducted and held captive by the Boko Haram terrorists", the army said in a statement.
"The rescued persons were mainly women and children," the military said, adding that troops also "killed four terrorists and arrested one".

In a country gripped by ethno-political balancing, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday moved to narrow the fault line that divides the North and the South by assigning most of the key portfolios of his administration to Nigerians of southern origin.

Apple has apologized after a staff member at one of its Victorian stores kicked out a group of black students over fears they “might steal something”. The company experienced a backlash after the year 10 Maribyrnong College students uploaded video of the incident on Facebook, in which the staff member can be heard saying: “These guys [security guards] are just a bit worried about your presence in our store. They’re just worried you might steal something.”

No new cases of Ebola were reported in Guinea last week, the first week since the full epidemic began that none of the Ebola-affected countries in West Africa have reported a case, the World Health Organization said Wednesday.

That doesn't mean Guinea is free and clear — there could be cases that haven't been detected yet.

But it may be the beginning of a countdown to the end of the epidemic in West Africa that has sickened more than 28,000 people and killed more than 11,000 of them.

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says the appointment of the former State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi as the Minister of Transportation will not make any meaningful impact to the Rivers people because he is a misfit. Bro Felix Obuah, the State chairman of the party said this through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam while reacting to the official swearing in of the new Ministers and assigning of portfolios to them.
 According to the State PDP boss, a ministerial slot for Rivers State given to Amaechi is a loss to the State because he (Amaechi) is at war with the State and does not believe in the development vision of the State Governor, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike. His appointment has put a question mark on the Buhari's war against corruption and has given Nigerians a clear picture that Buhari's war against corruption is targeted at perceived political enemies and opponents.
