Nine Alleged Boko Haram Extremists Plotting Attacks On Abuja Arrested By The DSS.

Nigeria’s intelligence agency says it has arrested nine alleged Boko Haram extremists plotting attacks on Abuja, the capital, over the festive season.

Saturday’s statement follows a warning Friday from the U.S. Embassy that extremists may be planning attacks on hotels favored by Westerners.

The Department of State Security says one of the nine men arrested was carrying out surveillance of a “high-profile hotel.”
It says all nine were detained in the past month and had infiltrated the capital in central Nigeria from the country’s northeast where most extremist attacks occur.
Boko Haram has claimed previous suicide and car bomb attacks that have killed hundreds in Abuja. Their suicide bombings, village raids and kidnappings continue in the northeast.
Nigeria’s 6-year Islamic uprising has killed 20,000 people and spread to neighboring countries.

Bayelsa Guber: A Woman Shot Down In Oporoma By Stray Bullet.

A woman was killed on Saturday as voters went to the polls in tight security to elect a new governor in Bayelsa, officials said.
Bayelsa is the home state of former president Goodluck Jonathan, where incumbent governor Seriake Dickson is running against former governor Timipre Sylva for another four-year term in office.

The woman was shot dead in Oporoma, a town at least 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of Port Harcourt, Nigeria’s oil hub which is the capital of neighbouring Rivers state, in one of a series of shooting attacks.
The governor’s spokesman Daniel Iwariso-Markson said a woman had been killed in Oporoma, indicating there had also been shooting attacks in Ekeremor, Nembe town and Brass.
“She was hit by bullets fired during the shooting,” he said, without giving details.
Dickson said the attacks targeted his supporters.

Boko-Haram Cameraman Arrested By The Nigerian Army. The man behind the production of video footages which Boko Haram insurgents usually post on the Internet, Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq, has been arrested by soldiers of the Nigeria Army in Borno State.

Sadiq was the suspect No. 58 in the recently published photograph of ‘100 Wanted Boko Haram suspects’ that was circulated by the Department of Army Public Relations in October.
In the published photograph, believed to have been sourced from a screen grab of a video clip, Sadiq, who appeared to be in his late 40s, was seen carrying a video camera tripod.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said he was arrested in Uba town of Askira Uba local area of Borno state.
Many residents of Borno state who viewed the video footage that was posted on YouTube showing the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, leading his group of insurgents to perform prayers during the last Eid Kabir celebration, confirmed that the video was taken in a community called Pumbum, which was not far away from Uba town: which made some logical sense if the Boko Haram’s video man, Sadiq, was arrested in that locality.

Following the mindboggling revelations arising from the $2.1bn arms procurement scandal, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, yesterday insisted on its stance that corrupt public officers should face capital punishment.

AYUBA WABBA

Addressing journalists in Abuja, NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, stated that the ongoing detention of some persons by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in connection with the alleged stealing and diversion of monies meant to prosecute war against insurgency in the North East, justified the union’s calls for summary execution of corrupt public officials.
Some ex-high ranking government officials, including former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki are currently in the custody of EFCC over complicity in the $2.1bn arms deal.

All Nigeria Need To Do Is To Ask The Igbos To Vote And Determine Where They Want To Belong, Biafra Or Nigeria

Fellow Nigerians, the roof is on fire. And the owners of the house should not
sleep and snore lest they get badly burnt. Please, let no one treat or dismiss
this Biafra controversy as humbug because it is very serious and has the
potential of spiraling out of control and snowballing into an unprecedented
conflagration of unquenchable propensities. War has never been a tea party.
I was about seven years old when the Nigerian civil war broke out in July 1967.
I was a child but not too young not to know and understand some of what was
happening. I certainly felt the tremor of it even in far-away Ile-Ife. We knew
something was definitely wrong when we suddenly noticed the inexplicable
disappearance of our neighbors and family friends. The most painful for us in
my own home was the forceful separation from our prayer warrior and spiritual
Guru, Papa Fineface. Papa Fineface had migrated from the Eastern part of
Nigeria to Ile-Ife many years earlier. Suddenly like a wisp of smoke he was
gone! At that time, we called such citizens of Nigeria from that part, Ibo. Much
later, I somehow learnt that the people should actually be addressed as Igbo.
Well, we continued to use the two names interchangeably till today.

President Buhari's Many Foreign Trips Is For The Good Of The Country

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has justified the many foreign trips of the President, saying that such trips by President Buhari since assuming office are critical to the implementation of his administration key policies of enhancing security, jump-starting the economy, creating jobs and fighting corruption.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja and signed by the Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and Culture, Segun Adeyemi, the Minister said all the trips have started yielding fruits in terms of turning the tide in the fight against the insurgents, attracting investments in the range of billions of dollars, and securing global support for the administration’s anti-corruption fight.

“Nigerians, whether in the ruling or the opposition parties, have a right to ask questions about the activities of their President, but it is absolutely important that they do so from an informed, rather than partisan or sensational, standpoint,’’ he said.
